The whole country of Argentina is devastated by the murder of Chiara Paez.
Chiara was a typical teenager, hanging with family and friends, popular at her school and a member of the girl's field hockey team.
In the beginning of May, Chiara went missing from home. Many people took part in the search to find her, including her boyfriend, Manuel Mansilla. They had been dating for a couple of months and attended the same school.
Three days later, the girl's body was found beaten under a patio in Mansilla's backyard, eight weeks pregnant, and she had been buried alive. Mansilla confessed to the murder and there was traces of drugs used in abortion found in her body, and he was also charged with forced abortion.
Reports suggest that she was murdered after an argument over her pregnancy. But, there are many doubts about whether or not Manuel acted alone. Later, Manuel's 34-year-old mother and 43-year-old partner were arrested and are under investigation for Chiara's murder.
Her death not only outraged her family and friends but her entire country. Argentinians were shocked by the murder other innocent women, known as "femicide" or murdering women for their gender.
A social media movement #NiUnaMenos (Not One Less) has people in cities across Argentina demanding the end to gender violence.
