“From an early age I felt that this was my calling. I rap because I have something to say.”
Hailing from West Philly, Sterling Duns is a vibrant rapper who is looking to create music that the world can relate to.
“One of the first songs I remember hearing was LL Cool J’s ‘I Need Love,” said Duns with a smile on his face. “In that moment, I fell in love with music.”
After receiving his Bachelor’s degree in English and then his Master’s degree in Poetry, Sterling set out on a mission. Duns has been on a nonstop grind, dropping music and EP’s constantly since 2012. The road to success has been filled with so many ups and downs but through it all, Sterling continues to be inspired by the people who dare to be different.
“People who are fearless, people who pursue their passions without repenting, without saying I’m sorry. People who draw outside the lines, people who are unapologetic and pure. Those are the people that motivate me every single day.”
Along with rapping, Duns also plays the Bass and the Guitar. To see Sterling decode one of his most favorite verses, check out the video above. You can also check out Duns’ most recent EP, “How it Ends,” on www.sterlingduns.com right now.
