Beyonce and Kendrick Lamar, on their own, are energetic and powerful performers on-stage. It's only expected that when they perform together, there's no limit to their command of the stage.
The two kicked off the 2016 BET Awards last night with a strong performance of Beyonce's "Freedom," a track from her April album Lemonade. Last night's rendition included water, back-up dancers, smoke, and a voice over of Martin Luther King, Jr.'s "I Have a Dream Speech."
Kendrick rose onto the stage after Beyonce completed the first half of the track performing in large tray of water accompanied by additional dancers. Throughout his verse, the Compton rapper backpedaled towards Beyonce and the tray until he joined the singer. Their performance climaxed with the two splashing each other with water and finished with Beyonce's arm around Kendrick as the two stared off into the audience.
The performance was one of the highlights from yesterday's BET Awards, joining Prince tributes and a powerful acceptance speech from Jesse Williams.
