There was a bit of an uproar when Ben Affleck announced he will be playing Batman in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice some years ago. Given his track record with superhero movies (i.e. Daredevil), DC Comic fans weren't too thrilled with the selection and wondered if Christian Bale was available to reprise his role as the caped crusader.
The film's director, Zach Snyder, mentioned in a new interview with FilmInk why Bale wasn't in consideration to play the Dark Knight once again. "This is a total and opposite reality from the Chris Nolan movies," he said. "It’s another universe, so we couldn’t hire Christian Bale if we wanted to, because he doesn’t exist in our world."
However, Snyder did try to convince Bale to take on a different role for the film. "Maybe we could hire him to play another part. We did talk about that briefly. I just wanted to hire Christian to play another part to make that obvious."
