I've been drinking, I've been drinking.
Well, Munchies didn't want to start off with a Drunk in Love reference but, I couldn't resist. Especially since science now proves that being drunk and being in love can produce the same feeling. Great catch Beyonce!
In a new study published in Neuroscience and Biobehavioral Reviews, a team from the University of Birmingham report that "there are similarities between the effects of alcohol and the "love hormone", oxytocin." They found that oxytocin "bears more semblances with the effects of alcohol than previously thought."
Oxytocin is a hormone that essentially makes mothers feel a maternal bond with their children and for others...makes them want to cuddle. It can increase feelings of generosity, empathy and altruism, while releasing a hold on fear, anxiety and stress.
So, have you ever confided in someone while drinking or revealed something personal while drunk? Well, oxytocin can influence how individuals deal with others, making you trust others more.
Being Drunk in Love is no longer just a song, it's the real deal.
