James Bond author Anthony Horowitz did an interview with The Daily Mail to discuss the character, how he feels about the movies and more. Horowitz talks about past Bond actors, and what he felt about the films and was completely honest. Horowitz then went on to talk about future Bond actors for the new book "Trigger Mortis", and mentioned actor Idris Elba.
"Idris Elba is a terrific actor, but I can think of other black actors who would do it better... For me, Idris Elba is a bit too rough to play the part. It’s not a colour issue. I think he is probably a bit too “street” for Bond. Is it a question of being suave? Yeah."
Elba has yet to respond, but his fans did. The backlash from the social media world got to Horowitz and he issued an apology on twitter.
But one has to wonder where did his perception of Elba being "too street" come from?
A man who values his family and especially his oldest daughter, a man who has won an humanitarian award, a man that converse with the Royals of England.
Yes the man played on the television The Wire, but his career began before that, and has only expanded after that to reach global fame.
