In a surprising move the NFL & Roger Goodell decided to not reduce the 4-game suspension of future Hall-of-Famer and New England Patriot quarterback Tom Brady.
A huge factor in the decision by the NFL was Brady destroying his cell phone and thus any evidence pointing to his guilt or innocence in “deflate-gate”.
Brady destroyed the phone after finding out investigators had requested access to his text messages.
Deflate-gate began not long after the AFC championship game. A report surfaced claiming the Patriots were using footballs that were under inflated - a violation of league rules. After a half-time inspection many of the balls the Patriots used were found to be illegally deflated.
Tom Brady has denied having any knowledge of the incident. The NFL Players Union has stated that suing the NFL on Brady's behalf in federal court could be a next step.
