A two-year-old Nigerian boy was abandoned by his family because they feared that he was a witch.
The boy, who's name is Hope, was found by a charity worker, frail, skinny and with worms. The poor child was forced to eat scraps left by people passing by for the last eight months.
He was rescued January 31st by Anja Ringgren Loven, according to DailyMail. Ms. Loven is the founder of African Children's Aid Education and Development Foundation, which she founded three years ago to help children that are neglected because they were labeled as witches.
"Thousands of children are being accused of being witches and we've both seen torture of children, dead children and frightened children,' she wrote on Facebook.
According to Loven, Hope is in stable condition, as he was given medication to remove worms from his belly and daily blood transfusions to add more red blood cells into his body.
"Today, he has had powers to sit up and smiling at us. He's a strong little boy."
