University of Cincinnati Police Officer Ray Tensing was indicted on a murder charge in the shooting and death of Samuel DuBose, CNN reports.
If Tensing is convicted, he will be spending the rest of his life behind bars.
Hamilton County Prosecutor Joe Deter says it is very obvious what to call this incident.
“This office has probably reviewed upwards of hundreds of police shootings, and this is the first time that we’ve thought this is without question a murder,” he said to the Washington Post.
"People want to believe that Mr. DuBose had done something violent towards the officer -- he did not. He did not at all. I feel so sorry for his family and what they lost, and I feel sorry for the community, too," Deters said to CNN.
