Life is but a series of seasons, and depending on who you ask, seasons that quickly blend into one another faster than we can sometimes respond. Winter was here not too long ago and summer will be here before we know it.
As hectic as life can get for each of us, it can be easy to forget the small things that make life a gift in and of itself. For 19-year-old Ben Sunderman, a special envelope in the mail became something much more than just that.
Living with Down syndrome, opportunities to succeed are not as common for the young Texas resident. By fate, an application for an internship through Project Search work for Embassy Suites would quickly change Ben's fate. After frantically going through a response letter from Project Search, Ben finally said the words that both he, his parents, and viewers of this video were hoping to hear...
"I got the job!"
Ben quickly runs and embraces his father Scott, who is every bit of excited for this amazing opportunity for his son. No matter if you are saint or sinner, male or female, this video is touching enough to put a smile on even the most stoic faces.
It's very important for each of us to remember to be grateful for even the smallest of things that may come our way. If we each could jump with the enthusiasm Ben has in this clip when we think about our opportunities and things going right in our lives, the world would seem that much more of a happier place.
Congratulations to Ben, and much respect to anyone with a debilitating illness or condition that still has the zest for life to be able to continue smiling. Life is what we make of it, so let's all make it as joy-filled as possible.
