The always stylish A$AP Mob general A$AP Ferg's recent trip to Australia found him in...Where else? The sophisticated sneaker boutique Subtype Store. As usual, Ferg provided many candid musings on hip-hop culture and the apparel and footwear that goes with it. In what may surprise many sneaker aficionados, Ferg gave no small bit of love to a certain German sneaker company:
"I would have to say adidas is killing it. Adidas is killing it because they embrace the youth. They've been supporting rappers since Run-DMC."
With fellow A$AP Mob member A$AP Rocky's name becoming synonymous with the cutting edge adidas designs of Jeremy Scott, adidas and A$AP may be a relationship to watch for years to come.
In discussing his own style influences and muses, Ferg even mentions a few unlikely individuals: "In every neighborhood, I feel like there is somebody who is the full front of fashion who everybody gets their style from on the block... It was like man, I'm going to dress different because when those girls come to the block, I'm going to look different, because everyone else looks the same."
In addition, Ferg has a fondness for Australian music crowds. "I love the U.S., don't get me wrong, but when I come here y'all are extra turned up. All the time." With a clothing line Trap Lord on the horizon and a second album on the way, Ferg is definitely focused on showing listeners why he is here to stay. "I feel like the first album was me settling into this, 'rapper.' I didn't know what a rapper was supposed to dress like, or be, until a bell went off in my head saying: 'Be yourself.'"
It sounds like Ferg Season is going to continue to be a special one.
