BJ the Chicago Kid drew a packed house at the Highline Ballroom last Wednesday as he stopped by NYC for his In My Mind world tour. The Chicago bred-singer shined and serenaded the crowd with his old school R&B style, going through songs like “Woman’s Worth”, “Turnin’ Me Up”, and “The New Cupid ft. Kendrick Lamar”.
While the crowd vibed to all of BJ’s soulful tracks, he switched up the tempo by playing a few of Chance the Rapper’s tracks and bringing out Brooklyn-native, Joey Bada$$. Joey amped up the crowd with his new single, “Devastated” while alluding to his show at the Highline Ballroom the following week.
BJ the Chicago Kid ended the night by speaking to the crowd and saying “There is no better time for my tour than right now. There are a lot of things going on in the world right now and I’m here to remind everyone that we all need to love each other.” These words echoed through the venue as BJ delivered one of his best performances to this day. If you haven’t checked out In My Head, please do so immediately.
