This music submission comes with a different sound. With a mix of dark pop, alternative, indie, and electronic vibes, Chløë Black is changing the music industry with a signature sound and look that boasts power and feminism while rebelling against slut shaming.

Chløë Black has lived a lot of lives in her twenty-something years. Working as a waitress in a LA strip club is only part of the story. With her debut release ’27 Club’ racking up over 100K views and topping Hype Machine 3 times, she’s developing a rapid fan base and drawing critical comparisons to Lana Del Ray and Amy Winehouse as one of the year’s most exciting voices.

Chløë’s new release 'Groupie' is part homage to the original groupies of the 1970's like Pamela Des Barres and Cynthia Plaster Caster and an anti slut-shaming, feminist anthem.

Chløë was inspired by her own experiences of the sunset strip rock scene, Frank Zappa's Laurel Canyon, Terry Reid's 1970 documentary about Groupies and Kenneth Anger's 'Scorpio Rising'. In some cases these groupies have become even more legendary than a lot of the men they worshipped and have become poster girls for rebellion and sexual liberation. Speaking on the track, Chloe states:

“I like to imagine them as Russ Myer style heroines. Dangerous and free. Slut-shaming is very much a big issue worldwide, even amongst the privileged. There were of course male groupies as well during the 70's, and seeing how much courage it must have taken to be 'out' during such a homophobic time, they too are my heroines. I want to celebrate the 'bad girls'. 'Good girls' don't make history.”
