It's the year of 2015. Anyone who has been living for the past 10 years or so, could express the drastic shift in the times. Not saying life has always been peachy for the masses, but conditions are changing rapidly. And unfortunately, shifting for the worst.
Fort Greene native - Divine, has released his newest single 'H.O.P.E.' which in turn represents its title accurately. (Definition above) Having been produced by Ran Reed, this record takes a life of it's own, as its main purpose is to identify the social ills amongst millions of the ambitious. Life isn't easy, and comes with loops and twists that keep all of us unsettled and on edge. Within 4 minutes of recording, we all can get a dose of audible hope, that reassures that there is always a light at the end of the tunnel.
"Hope is being able to see that there is light despite all of the darkness."
The rhythmic bottom of H.O.P.E. is as uplifting as the supportive vocals graced on top of them, thanks to Felicia Horowitz & LoVel, who skillfully embed their voices into the beat. A positive and determined Divine then steps forth, delivering lines that depict the daily struggle, and ways to overcome them.
Positive. Straightforward. Honest. Clean. Many words can define this record, but it's the collective of thoughts, emotions and messages that embody the intention and mission of this musical piece. A work of art, we'll call it. Just in sonic form. Check this one out, and leave those thoughts below in our Disqus section. What do you like most about this track?
