Yuna, a Malaysian songwriter and Indie pop artist, stopped by NYC’s Highline Ballroom as she embarks on her US/international tour. The rainy Sunday night was kicked off with a performance from BOSCO, an up and coming multi-disciplinary artist from Atlanta. BOSCO’s energy set the stage for Yuna’s intimate and emotional performance; Yuna transitioned from songs on her self-titled album (“Lullabies”) to new singles (“Places to Go”, “Crush” ft. Usher) on her upcoming album, Chapters.
As with every performance, Yuna endeared the crowd with her genuine and sincere demeanor – she exposed her vulnerabilities, pain, and raw emotions through each song, walking the audience through her state of mind at each phase of her last break up. Yuna connected with every member in the crowd that night, telling her story as if they were the only people at the venue.
Her new album, Chapters, is set to be released on May 20, 2016. HypeFresh contributor/photographer Andrew Kung (@andrew_kung) captured Yuna’s intimate performance on Sunday, May 1, 2016.
