As Asics celebrates the 25th anniversary of the Gel Lyte III, Germany's very own, Afew was more than willing to lend a hand in making this anniversary one to remember with its exclusive "Koi" project.
The shoe displays a red toe box, which Afew swapped with a black substitute to honor Germany's oldest children's hospital, the Regenbogenland to create the one and only, "Black Koi". The all new design comes with unique lacelocks, sockliner and is presented in a wood box that was hand painted by Dutch artist Kwills.
Despite the Black Koi taking the spotlight momentarily, the original red toe Koi's are just as flashy with it paying tribute to this history of Japan and its independence day. It comes with a wooden box, chopsticks, and an extra pair of laces for the sneakerhead who wants to standout. These are set to drop May 30th on Afew but a broader release is expected shortly after.
The size 9, one of ones currently up for auction on klekt until May 23rd with bids already over $2,000. These being a one and only custom, it goes without saying that these shoes are for the more financially stable sneakerhead. However, the money from these exclusive kicks will go to Regenbogenland Children's Hospice.
