As the summer months are coming to a close, designers are prepping the releases of upcoming silhouettes and features for what might be a brutal winter. Introducing color schemes and materials help provide layering to survive the cold. It's always interesting
Vanshas officially rolled out it's fall creative strategy, culling inspiration from traditional athletic styling to present a varsity inspired footwear for men. Following the release if the "Ditsy Bandana" pack, Vans has continued the updating process for two select renditions of the Sk8-Hi and Era 59 pairs. The six-piece capsule borrows design aesthetics from vintage letterman jackets and transfers the vintage idea into a cohesive collection using mixes of leather and wool.
A further look into the overall design process unveils the deconstruction of the classic varsity jacket, introducing gray, charcoal and navy hues to accent the fall sportswear trends of minimalist styling. The uppers are embossed in wool, metal fixtures and white laces while color is only introduced on the side stripe of the SK8- Hi Resissue and the tongue and heel of the era 59.
Although the Vans varsity pack is aesthetically progressive, the design of the shoe is for mainly for performance wear. Adding hints of wool and leather are for warmth and in climate conditions. Both pairs are available here for $70 and $60 respectively.
