Rihanna and Jhene aiko have both been targeted by car thieves in Los Angeles just days apart. Leaving many to wonder if these crimes were coincidence or premeditated.
Coincidence? or Planned?
TMZ reports that Rihanna’s driver’s vehicle was stolen from her home last week, and Jhene’s 2020 Range Rover was taken last weekend while she was out having dinner at Tasty Noodle House with her family. The Souled Out singer left her keys with the valet and saw a thief driving off in her SUV about 30 minutes later.
It’s the latest in a string of crimes targeting celebrities’ homes. Cops have been pursuing a group of suspects who have hit the homes of LeBron James, Viola Davis and Matt Damon, among others.
The attacks are a stark reminder of the growing threat of racially motivated hate crimes. Many artists, including Rihanna, Pharrell and Jhene Aiko, have spoken out against the trend.
A scary experience for Jhene Aiko
As a new parent, Jhene has been promoting Sleep Soul music to help her son Noah Hasani sleep soundly at night, but she’s also launched an album of relaxing nature and rain sounds called ALLEL by Jhene Aiko. Her new collection comes after she released her first curated music in March 2022.
Meanwhile, she’s nominated for the best female R&B/pop artist award at this year’s BET Awards. She and husband Big Sean are set to take the stage at the televised event this Sunday.
Both Beyonce and Jay Z are not scheduled to perform at the awards show, a representative for BET told reporters. Drake, who originally had been set to headline the show, will not perform on Sunday, a rep for his team said.
Despite the incident, the stars remain steadfast in their commitment to their fans and their careers. Both Beyonce and Jay Z are set to head out on their joint stadium tour soon, which will mark their third time performing together.
