The Chicago Tribune went through archives to find a photo of Bernie Sanders during his rebellious college days. In the photo you see Sanders being dragged from Chicago cops with barricades and bystanders looking on to the scene.
Marianne Mather, a photo editor at the Tribune, said that Sanders identified himself in that photo: "He looked at it—he actually has his student ID from the University of Chicago in his wallet—and he said, 'Yes, that indeed is [me].'"
Court documents also confirm that Sanders was arrested on Aug. 12, 1963 and charged with resisting arrest when he was 21 years old at the University of Chicago. Video footage of the arrest has surfaced too.
