Rapper/actor joins super villain team-up in unspecified role

Common has reportedly closed a deal to join the ever-expanding cast of DC's highly anticipated 2016 film Suicide Squad. You'll be seeing a lot of big names in this movie.

The film is about a secret government agency that recruits imprisoned supervillains to execute dangerous black ops missions in exchange for clemency. Suicide Squad will no doubt be bringing swarms of movie-goers to the box office next summer.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, David Ayer is directing the feature. The lineup will include Jared Leto as the Joker, Will Smith as Deadshot and Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn. Also in the mix are Joel Kinnaman, Cara Delevingne, Viola David, Adam Beach, Ike Barinholtz, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje and Scott Eastwood.

There will also be cameos of Jesse Eisenberg who plays Lex Luthor and Ben Affleck as Batman in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.

It's interesting to note that Common was courted to play the John Stewart version of Green Lantern in an aborted George Miller take on DC’s big super team, Justice League: Mortal. With the Stewart rumored to wear the ring in the upcoming two-part Justice League and 2020’s planned Green Lantern solo film, speculation on Common’s Suicide Squad role will no doubt send fans into a frenzy. via Consequence of Sound
