15,000 People Expected City-Wide as Three Local Charities Benefit
Saturday, November 21, 2015 - Philadelphia, PA
(Philadelphia, PA) - Event organizers of Food Fest today announced that Philadelphia restaurants & eateries have come together for a city-wide restaurant crawl where customers can experience Philly's vibrant local restaurant scene in each of our neighborhoods. As of today, there are over 75 restaurants participating and that number is growing daily.
Food Fest is FREE to participate for both consumers and restaurants. There are two ticket options - one that is free and another that is a donation to charity. If you do donate, we will be mailing out a coupon book good for discounts at multiple Philadelphia area restaurants & businesses.
Their goal is to support and bring awareness to food related charities in our great city through restaurants opening their doors to an all-day event centered on trying new restaurants, drinks, food, and fun. There will be food drop off locations in 25 different neighborhoods throughout Philadelphia where you can bring canned goods just before Thanksgiving.
Philly2Night.com and UpcomingEvents.com, two of Philadelphia's premier online entertainment and event sources, have partnered to bring to Philadelphia this one of a kind event. Ray Sheehan, President of Philly2Night.com said:
"Through Food Fest, we challenge Philly to help us make the world a better place! Tito's Handmade Vodka has agreed to match every dollar donated, up to $10,000, leading up to Food Fest! Together we can do great things to strike out hunger in the City of Brotherly Love!! Additionally, Tito's has also challenged all participating restaurants and will match their philanthropic efforts up to an additional $5,000! We strongly believe that when a community works together they can achieve great things."
A large portion of the proceeds from the Food Fest will benefit three local charities: Philabundance, The Food Trust, and Alex's Lemonade Stand.Philabundance was created in 1984 with the simple belief that no man, woman or child should go hungry. Philabundance has taken a stronghold of the hunger issue in the Delaware Valley, implementing both emergency relief and also long-term strategies to strengthen the hunger safety net. The Food Trust's mission is to ensure that everyone has access to affordable, nutritious food and information to make healthy decisions. Alex's Lemonade Stand mission is to raise money and awareness of childhood cancer causes, primarily research into new treatments and cures.
