Freddy Gray's Mother Attempts Suicide Reports Say

After the wrongful, police brutality death of her son - Freddie Gray, Gloria Darden attempts a suicidal effort after the city of Baltimore settled the case with a $6.4 million dollar payout - Which exceeded the $5.9 million officials agreed to pay the Garner family. The six officers responsible for Freddie Gray's death await trial.

According to CBS BaltimoreDarden attempted the taking of her own life on Wednesday at 9:35 p.m. that evening. She was transported to a hospital with wounds that required no surgery. CBS Baltimore also reports that a psychiatric evaluation is also being performed in addition.

“The fact the civil matter seems to be resolved hopefully will reduce some of the tension among people who might have demonstrated at each of those six trials,” Kurt L. Schmoke, a previous Baltimore mayor and state’s attorney who now is the president of University of Baltimore, said after the settlement. “They might feel there is at least some semblance of justice that has occurred for the Gray family.”
