Longtime Judge Jack H. Weil has been involved in immigration processes as the Assistant Chief Immigration Judge for the Immigration Review's Office.
"I've taught immigration law literally to 3-year-olds and 4-year-olds," said Judge Weil. "It takes a lot of time. It takes a lot of patience. They get it. It's not the most efficient, but it can be done." He further went on to continue to justify his comments.
“I’ve told you I have trained 3-year-olds and 4-year-olds in immigration law,” according to a transcript from Weil. “You can do a fair hearing. It’s going to take you a lot of time.”
Since his remarks made news, Weis has remained relatively silent. He made a statement through email. Weil said his statements don’t “present an accurate assessment of my views on this topic” and were being “taken out of context.”
Weil has also stated that he now needs the Justice Department's permission to speak about the topic further, and he cannot respond to many emails pertaining to the topic.
