Kentucky Clerk Kim Davis to Remain in Jail through the Weekend

Kim Davis, the Kentucky clerk jailed for refusing to follow the letter of the law and issue same-sex marriage licenses spent the holiday weekend in jail according to her lawyers.

Davis was jailed earlier in the week for violating a Supreme Court decision against her where she cited her religious views as her reasons. U.S. District Judge David Bunning has made his stance clear that Davis will not be released until she relents and executes the duties she swore an oath to.

Here is a portion of her oath of office: "I do solemnly swear (or affirm, as the case may be) that I will support the Constitution of the United States and the Constitution of this Commonwealth, and be faithful and true to the Commonwealth of Kentucky so long as I continue a citizen thereof, and that I will faithfully execute, to the best of my ability, the office of _______ according to law…”
