A Kentucky state trooper was shot and killed during a car chase that occurred in western Kentucky.
31-year-old Kentucky State Police trooper Joseph Cameron Ponder was conducting a typical traffic stop Sunday night around 10 p.m.
"The news release says a chase ensued with the suspect stopping abruptly, causing the trooper’s vehicle to “make contact” with the rear of the suspect’s vehicle." via Blaze
The suspect shot several times into Ponder's car, hitting him several times. He was transported to the hospital in Princeton, Kentucky where he died.
Authorities are still looking for the suspect who has been identified as 25-year-old Joseph Thomas Johnson-Shanks.
