NASA has given researchers at Clemson University $200,000 to investigate the possibility and experiment for turning poop into a viable food source for astronauts.

The project's name is Synthetic Biology for Recycling Human Waste into Food, Nutraceuticals and Materials: Closing the Loop for Long-Term Space Travel.

Wow, that was a long name. But, anyway, it isn't a surprise that this would correlate with NASA trying to work toward a mission to Mars. So, will this experiment will with the long travel...we won't know until later.
