Davis agreed to a 5 year, $145 million dollar deal that begins in the 2016-2017 season. Davis’ contract assures he will be the cornerstone of the Pelicans organization for years to come. The Pelicans are a team on the rise, having made the playoffs for the first time since 2010 and the first time with the moniker "Pelicans".

Anthony Davis averaged 24.4 points, 10.2 rebounds, 2.9 blocks and 2.2 assists this past season and 31.5 points in the playoffs, losing to the eventual champion Golden State Warriors.
