Derrick Stafford and Norris Greenhouse were arrested on Friday after allegedly shooting at a vehicle at "the conclusion of a pursuit," killing six-year-old Jeremy David Mardis in Marksville, Louisiana.

This makes Mardis the youngest civilian to be killed by police so far this year, according to Complex.

Buzzfeed reports that Stafford, 32, is a member of the Marksville Police Department and Greenhouse, 23, works for the Alexandria City Marshall. Both were working part-time for another agency at the time.

Mardis died at the scene when a bullet struck him in the head and chest. His father, Chris Few, remains in critical condition.

Col. Michael Edmonson said "it was the most disturbing thing I have ever seen," after reviewing the body camera footage.

The officer say they were attempting to serve a warrant but Edmonson told The Advocate that "no warrant has materialized."
