AUGUST's debut single, "Funeral," dropped earlier this year and it reached #25 on Spotify's Viral 50 and earned over 375K Spotify streams. AUGUST came up writing hits for others but started focusing on his solo work earlier this year and has already been featured by i-D, Pigeons & Planes, Vibe Magazine and more. His debut project, Father, is set to release this year via 88rising and Red Bull Records.
In a few short months, AUGUST 08 has gone from penning hits for other artists to releasing solo material that grabbed the attention of tastemakers like Pigeons & Planes, The 405, and Vibe Magazine. With a long list of writing credits that include DJ Khaled’s multi-platinum hit, “I’m The One,” Mic Lowry’s “Oh Lord,” and Sabrina Claudio’s “Orion’s Belt,” AUGUST 08 has shifted his focus to his solo material and it’s paying off. On February 7th, AUGUST 08 released his debut single, “Funeral,” and announced a new partnership deal with 88rising and Red Bull Records. “Funeral” reached #25 on Spotify’s Viral 50 chart, racking up over 300K Spotify streams in less than one month. The “Funeral” music video, released in March, also generated buzz, already earning over 100K views. In February, AUGUST 08 made his live debut when he performed alongside 88rising collective mates Rich Brian, Joji, Keith Ape and Higher Brothers, at 88rising’s sold-out DOUBLE HAPPINESS events in Los Angeles, San Francisco and New York. He then headed overseas as direct support for the sold-out European leg of Rich Brian’s Come To My Party Tour, with whom he shares the single, “Arizona.” With some major collaborations and more new music on the horizon, AUGUST 08 is “on the cusp of skyrocketing very high, very soon.” (i-D)
